Osaka University and Japan's ATR have just unveiled what may be the creepiest, yet oddly cute telepresence aid in the form of the Telenoid R1 robot.

While the robot immediately brings to mind images of Casper the Friendly Ghost, rather than haunting, the Telenoid
is meant to smooth video conference relations by transmitting the
gestures and words of the broadcaster to the receiver, thus making the
interaction that much more realistic. It's also hoped that the Telenoid
may provide a bit of comfort for Japan's often lonely, aging population.
The Telenoid will sell for roughly $8,000 when is goes on sale in the
near future.

Honestly I thought it looked more like a buttplug then a ghost. Thats probably because of 4chan's influence.
