Visual artist uses freaky eye-doodad to see 3D without glasses

François Vogel hates 3D glasses. The man seemingly hates them so much that he's devised a tiny little device that attaches to the side of your eyes and syncs your blinks to a monitor. Yes, it syncs your eyes.

Vogel says that his gadget is supposed to simulate 3D active shutter glasses and only works with monitors with 120Hz refresh rates. Aside from that, there isn't any additional information on how it all works, other than the fact that Vogel plans to release his tech at CES 2012.

I want to like Vogel's idea because I hate 3D glasses, but it's just too bad that the entire gadget would freak the ape out of most people. Seeing Vogel's eyelids auto-blink for the sake of 3D is ridiculous-looking and would look even more so with a room full of people all "synced" up to their own pairs.

Cautious YouTubers are calling Vogel's invention a big hoax. The lack of info and sketchy 120Hz monitor does raise some flags. DVICE readers, what do you think? Real or fake?
