Image of the Day: crazy mash-up of the Sun and Jupiter
I know you all have been wondering what it would look like if Jupiter and the sun, uh, got it on. Fortunately, NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) anticipated you and captured exactly that. Well sort of.
For about an hour every day around the spring and autumn equinoxes, Earth and sun line up and block the SDO's view. As the SDO regains sight, Earth's shadow travels across the sun and creates some pretty interesting images, like this "Sunpiter."
