Incredible race simulator makes all others look like toys
There are plenty of cool race simulators, but this one from a British company called BallRacing Developments, takes things to a whole new level of realism.
Built around a full sized model of a Formula 1 race car, the BRD 06
Motion Simulator is mounted on hydraulically operated bed that can
deliver up to 1.5G during cornering. Constructed mostly from carbon
fiber, the entire car looks spookily realistic right down to the F1
style steering wheel controls, paddle gear shifters, and full racing
harness. You can even get it with smoke generators to simulate the smoke
created whenever the tires lock-up during braking.
Three large LCD screens bring you the visual action, while a 5.1
surround sound system provides the audio. The simulator runs BRD's own
software, which like the car, was developed by racing drivers for driver
training.
What's really cool is that unlike Ferrari's private simulator, this one is available to buy. No price is given, so I guess it's one of those "if you have to ask" deals.
If you just want to try it out, this place in England has 10 of them, although they will charge you a cool $55 per session.
