Hand operated purifier lets you crank out clean drinkable water
It can be tough to find clean water in many remote places, so having a
quick and easy way to purify it is essential. Traditional charcoal
filters can be slow, so the SteriPEN Sidewinder uses UV light to kill
off any critters.
Large plug-in water purifiers
that use UV light have around for years, but in remote areas it can be
difficult to find a reliable source of power. With the Sidewinder, you
simply fill up the 1-Liter bottle, attach the cranking mechanism, and
crank until the green LED lights up.
The SteriPEN Sidewinder is expected to hit the market next month for around $100.

Cool thing for explorers to have, though.
