We've seen the amazing augmented reality
icing now possible with edible cookies, but one Japanese tinkerer has
come up with a way to add an actual sense of flavor to the digitally
enhanced cookies.

Tajuki Narumi and his colleagues at the University of Tokyo came up
with a headset that projects various cookie textures onto the cookies
while spraying the cookie's associated scents into the nose of the
wearer. The combined effect essentially allows the wearer to consume the
same cookies in reality, while his senses tell him that he's tasting a
wide variety of ingredients. This technology should come in handy once
we get those soylent green factories up and running.
