Porn goes 3D: Is there such a thing as too much detail?

A Hong-Kong based adult film company has started shooting what they claim is the first 3D hard-core porn flick. The title, 3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy sounds like a real mouthful, but the producers point out that it's based on a classic Chinese erotic tale called The Carnal Prayer Mat.













With a $3.2 million budget and big name Japanese porn stars like
Yukiko Suo and Saori Hara in the cast, it's clear that 3D Sex and Zen is
no small potatoes, but just how it will be distributed isn't clear.

The Blu-ray Disc Association
has fiercely resisted adult content on Blu-ray, so web streaming or DVD
would seem like the remaining choices. The problem is that these
formats don't support the active shutter glasses used with those fancy new 3D HDTVs, so you'll be stuck with old school red and green glasses or the passive polarized type.

My concern is whether this might be too much of a good thing. Porn
films used to be shot in soft focus to hide all of those blemishes even
the most beautiful people have, with 3D, there won't be much left to the
imagination.
